New President of the Nigerian Bar
Association ( NBA) Abubakar Balarabe Mahmoud SAN has taken his oath of office.
The swearing in
took place at the end of the 56th
Annual General Conference of the NBA in port Harcourt ,Rivers State.
While performing his first official assignment, he has sworn in his executive members who will together run the NBA for the next 2 years.
In his acceptance
speech he commended the outgoing executive members led by Austine Alegeh, for
several innovations that were introduced into the NBA especially the universal
e-voting by the NBA.
The swearing in ceremony was witnessed by
the Governors of Rivers State Nyesome Wike and Sokoto State Alhaji Tambawal as
well as the past governor of Kano State, Alhaji Kwakwanso.
He called upon his
opponent JK Gadzama to join hands with him and work for the Bar, adding that he
should learn from the former President Goodluck Jonathan.
He promised to
pursue the overall national interest.
