The traditional ruler of Ode- Iyasan
community in Irele LGA of Ondo state, Oba Abiodun Oyewusi, who was
kidnapped last week by gunmen regained freedom yesterday.
Ondo State police command spokesman, Mr Femi Joseph, confirmed that he was released at Gbelegun village in Edo State early yesterday through the combined efforts of the marine police, anti-kidnapping squad and some military officers.
Joseph said no ransom was paid for the release of the
monarch who spent six days with the kidnappers.
A member of the House of Representatives from Okitipupa /Irele Federal Constituency of Ondo State, Hon. Mike Omogbehin, commended the security forces for the rescue effort.
The monarch was kidnapped from his palace in Irele.
