Lagos State Governor, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, yesterday gave a seven-day ultimatum to auto mechanics operating under the Third Mainland Bridge near Adekunle area to vacate the location and remove all abandoned vehicles to allow for commencement of a development project.

The governor gave the ultimatum during an unscheduled visit to the area. He expressed dissatisfaction with the mechanics for refusing to comply with previous quit notices. He also ordered traders in the area to move to the designated site prepared for them in Agbowa by January 2016, while disclosing that a recreation park would be sited on the stretch of land overlooking the lagoon.

He said the park project would be completed before the end of May 2017 when Lagos State would be 50 years old.

The governor also yesterday commissioned the Ipaja-Ayobo and Ikotun-Ejigbo roads, and also inspected other on-going projects across the state.

At Ipaja, Ambode promised to commence construction work on the Ishefun-Ayetoro Road, just as he assured residents that Alimosho would soon become the new Victoria Island.
