RISING CRIME:ABIA GOVERNMENT TO RE-INTRODUCE MILITARY CHECK POINTS IN STATE

Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Godwin Adindu, has stated that as part of government determination to ensure that Abia State remains crime-free, the military checkpoints will soon return in all designated points in the State, both in the villages and cities.
Adindu disclosed that the Governor, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has had consultations with President Muhammadu Buhari and the GOC, Commanding 82 Division of the Nigeria Army, Enugu, and has secured the approval of the Army for the redeployment of soldiers back to the major roads in Abia State.
Adindu who was speaking to the Press in his office in government house Umuahia said the pockets of incidents of insecurity witnessed in the state in the last couple of weeks will not repeat as the governor has taken drastic measures to curtail cases of insecurity and ensure total maintenance of law and order in the state.
The Chief Press Secretary re-emphasized that security of life and property and law and order are top priorities of the current administration and therefore warned all criminally minded people to desist from their act, as the governor will not tolerate any form of violent crime in the state.
He further stated that such acts of insecurity would constitute a big distraction to the massive urban renewal exercise taking place in Aba and other centres of the state, adding that the government and the workers need a conducive atmosphere to achieve the objective of rebuilding the metropolitan cities and also achieve the vision of total transformation of the state.
