An argument that resulted in
the fatal shooting of a 14-year-old girl started over Facebook,
police have said.
A group of girls got into
a dispute over Facebook and decided to meet in a park in Birmingham, Alabama,
to film their fight and post it online, WBRC reports.
But after a brawl erupted, two
teenage boys pulled out guns – and started shooting. Kierra’onna Rice, 14, was
killed and two others were wounded.
‘It’s extremely challenging for us a police
department,’ Birmingham Police Chief A.C. Roper told FOX.
‘It’s challenging for these
families because here’s a group of kids who have decided that they’re going to
fight and put it on social media where everybody can see it.
Two suspects, aged 17 and 19,
were subsequently detained by police.
WIAT reports that police
believe one of the men was dating one of the girls fighting Kierra’onna.
