The visit of
the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu
Buhari(retd.), to Chibok, was put off at the last minute on Tuesday due to the
tight schedule and the crowd that opted to follow the former Head of State to
the Borno State town.
No fewer than
270 girls from the Government Secondary School, Chibok, were abducted by Boko
Haram fighters on April 14, 2014, from the school while preparing for their
final examinations.
Director of
Media and Publicity, APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, Garba Shehu,
confirmed on Tuesday that the general was scheduled to visit the parents of the
abducted girls on Tuesday.
“He(Buhari)
was scheduled to visit, but the enormity of the crowd (apart from the rally and
a visit to the Shehu of Borno) made everything impossible. A date for Chibok is
under consideration,” Shehu said.
