President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has reiterated his
government’s resolve to continue to support the creative industry in Nigeria.
The President made the remark in Aso rock villa yesterday
while receiving in audience ,members of the Creative Professionals of Nigeria
led by its President Mr Segun Arinze.
Flanked by his Vice,Namadi Sambo, Minister of the FCT and
his counterparts in the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and National Orientation
as well as the Supervising Minister at the Ministry of Information,the
President applauded the great roles being played by the Creative Professionals
in laundering the image of the country within and outside the shores of the
continent.
According to him “the Creative industry in Nigeria has been
a catalyst for change and has been in
the forefront of promoting our core values as Nigerians as well as putting our
Nation in the world map”.
He also commended the industry for its job creation efforts.
He assured the industry of his full support in all its programmes.
In his own remark, Vice President Namadi Smabo thanked the
Association for its pioneering efforts in the Movie Industry which according to
him has put Nigeria in the pride of place in the comity of Nations.
The Vice President who called himself a creative person too (Architect) jokingly said that whenever he travels
abroad most foreigners call him IGWE due to what they watch of Nigerian movies, said the industry is a huge success.
Earlier on the Minister of Culture and Tourism ,Edem Duke said
the Association came at an auspicious time in our journey in nationhood and called for the compilation of a full directory of all creative professionals in the country.
He commended the efforts of the pioneering members of the
Association and pledges the unflinching support of his ministry towards
ensuring that the lofty objectives of the Association are met.
In his speech, the leader of delegation, Mr Segun Arinze
commended the support of President Goodluck
Jonathan for the creative Industry in Nigeria. According to him, No
Nigerian former Head of State has done as much for the industry as President
Goodluck Jonathan. He also thanked the President for the intervention funds
made available to the movie industry.
He also commended the President’s achievement in such
sectors like Aviation, Power, Roads, Health,
and Agriculture, Education etc pledging the support of members of Association
to the administration..
The highlight of the visit was the presentation of life size
portrait of the President autographed by all members of the association.

event were Actors Guild of Nigeria President Ibinabo Fiberesima ,Zeb
Ejiro,Chico Ejiro,Fred Amata,Ramsey Nouah,Timi Dakolo,Sammy Okposo ,Victor
Okhia, Victor Osuagwu,Emeka Ossai,Monalisa Chinda,Opa Williams,Chris Kehinde
Nwandu (CKN Nigeria),Azu Amatus,Seun Oloketuyi,Fidelis Duker,Teco Benson
,Ifeanyi Dike,Fathia Balogun etc.
