Woman Buries Her Child Alive In Akwa Ibom State

Police in Akwa Ibom said they have arrested a middle-aged woman who buried her one-day old baby alive in a shallow grave in the state.
The state police commissioner, Gabriel Achong who made the revelation yesterday in Uyo during his maiden chat with journalist, said the woman, Patience Sunday, was arrested at Afaha Abia village in Nsit Ibom local government area of the state.
Achong decried the attitude of some mothers who conceive without adequate preparation for the care of the babies when they are born.
He explained that the woman was arrested by the police after a tip off from a Good Samaritan in the area.
The police commissioner therefore advised youths in the state, especially girls to always exercise caution in their dealings with men to avoid unwanted pregnancies.
Achong, who regretted the current high level of moral decadence among children, urged parents to keep a keener eye on their female children in order to avoid unpleasant consequences.
