Former Sports Minister,Bolaji Abdullahi Joins His godfather Saraki In APC

A former Minister of Sports, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, on Wednesday publicly declared his membership of the All Progressive Congress.
In an interview with journalists in Ilorin to announce his mem...bership of APC, he claimed that only APC held the key to a credible political future for Nigeria.
Abdullahi advised Nigerians to seek change at national affairs and demand better governance.
According to him, it is important for Nigerians to actively show interest in politics, as he noted that political decisions have great impacts in national affairs and people’s wellbeing.
Abdullahi said, “The question you should ask yourself is whether you are better off today than you were six years ago; whether the education your children receive today is better than what they received six years ago and whether the health services available to you is better than what was obtainable six years ago?
“If you conclude that they are better, then there is no need for you to change, but if like many of us, you face the reality that they are not, then you will understand why we say that we need a change.
“I have served both at the state and national level and I am convinced now that I should be more involved in contributing to solving problems, not just writing about them (problems) again and that is why I am now a full member of the APC.
“Yes, I used to see myself as a technocrat and it was strategic because I needed to have an environment to perform the job I was given without necessarily becoming political or promoting myself because whether as a commissioner or minister, I was only there by the recommendation of my bosses and I needed to do the work assigned to me without failing.
“However, I also discovered that much as that gave me the opportunity to perform, the truth also was that it became a limitation in some ways because when the decisions are to be made which would affect the people, technocrats are not allowed to be in such gathering. They are only called upon to implement the decisions and even in doing that, he has to be careful because it may affect the fortunes of the politician.”Bolaji Abdullahi is a god son to former Kwara State Governor and now a Senator of the Federal Republic,Bukola Saraki whom he served as a commissioner and who nominated him for a ministerial position under the Goodluck Jonathan's government. His closeness to the ex governor who ported from the PDP to APC led to his sack some months back

  1. No wonder these man was kicked out of office as a sport minister in other for him to fully chase his ambition for the post of Governorship under APC. And since the begining of this world, Bolaji should tell me when and where is the present better of than the past? Its written in the bible that in the last days everything will get worst, so what's these man talking about?

    1. In response to your questions, you actually didnt know the various achievement he was able to successfully deliver to the people of Kwara State when he was a serving commissioner, however, the questions you are asking is almost biased and based on what the GEJ would like to listen to. I will categorically inform you that MALLAM BOLAJI ABDULLAHI'S works still stands and if you go to kwara state today you will see the legacies he left behind. Nigeria Education has been destroyed by the PDP and i will advise you to check the inconsistency of our National establishments, e.g. ASUU, POLY, COED, LAWYERS, DOCTORS and a host of many others, i want to believe you are not blind to see whats happening to our security issues in the country as well, so before you start you statements, always consider what the outcome will be sir. kind regards

    2. How can you say such a rusticated words, you believe he has bacterized your own pride, as far as i am concern, he has done pretty well. both when he was a commissioner and as a minister, he brought back the glory to Nigeria as a whole by winning the Nation's Cup, that is even enough for someone to say he has done well. Get it right, stop tarnishing others image, be a good Nigerian. MALLAM BOLAJI ABDULLAHI you've done well.

I will like to use this medium to significantly express some senses into your knowledge, the questions asked isnt far from what i answered but could as well not have gotten me right. the reasons Bolaji decided to stay i guess you shuld remember that he was in charge of Sport affairs and not national planning or budgets, in addition to that the GEJ administration has decided to use our National institutions to eleminate his opponents and he has quickly forgotten his aims and aspirations for Nigerians, dont forget so quickly an example of his dogs FFK, he was in APC before rejoining the PDP, why? because the EFCC was dealing with him so he opted for a better option, have you ever seen any past government support corruption this high before? i dont still understand why the govt will give immunity to corrupt public officers like alam, abachas, etc all in despiration, Mallam Bolaji just decides to correct wat was wrong in the sports sector and everybody applauded him with respects and regards, my dear brother, i will advice you always check your comments before commenting, if GEJ calls me to serve with him today, i will honour it cos he is the president and will do my best for the nation and not him cos he called me to serve my nation not GEJ. so 6years of bad government doesnt count or make Bolaji one of the bad eggs. please get this into your skull. lol

lets not forget so soon that bad eggs will surely be dealt with. if bolaji tried to fire or assisted in getting rotten eggs out of a system, we should not come back and condemn him, the man did extremely well, i really wished i had meet him personally, please dont condemn him out rightly.

      1.The Peace Deal

When HM was appointed the Supervising Minister of Sports in December 2012, he met a football sector in disarray as a result of numerous and complex conflicts. There were many court cases by several aggrieved parties over issues relating to the previous election into the board of the FA, and even whether the FA should be an ‘Association’(NFA) or a ‘Federation’ (NFF). One of the consequences of the conflicts was that Nigeria failed to qualify for the 2012 Nations Cup in Equatorial Guinea/Gabon in 2012.

Abdullahi settled the almost fratricidal war in the Nigerian Football Federation, by making all the parties involved in the crises agree to a comprehensive peace deal.

      2. Presidential Retreat on Sports

After the failure of Team Nigeria to win a medal at the London 2012 Olympics, the Presidency with active participation of the NSC organised the first ever Presidential Retreat on Sports. Consultants McKenzie were tasked with putting the retreat together. It held in November 2011, with major stakeholders in Nigerian sports attending. The outcome of the retreat is the blueprint, which provided a holistic framework for sports development in Nigeria. The key recommendations were on funding, private sector participation, management and administration, and developing grassroots sports.

      Implementation:

      i. We developed new election guidelines and code of governance for the administration of sports federations. The code focused on entrenching the principles of transparency, efficiency and accountability across the Federations while providing a framework that maintains an ethical culture through a committed self-regulatory approach. We implemented the new guidelines for the last elections into the boards of sports federations and many analysts say the elections were the best in recent times. The present boards are also reputed to have the right caliber of people because real sports stakeholders and not political jobbers and government nominees populate them.

ii. On funding, we are implementing a new funding regime for the sports federations. We have established a system of funding to guide the disbursement of funds across the various sports and to shift focus from funding sporting federations to funding sporting activities. What this means is that instead of giving subventions to federations, which may be mainly used for administrative purposes, we now fund specific sporting activities and programs of the federations. This has resulted in better funding for the federations, especially those that are sometimes considered as lesser sports.

iii. Also, working with the office of the CME and the GTBank, we are developing a framework for sustainable private-sector-driven Sports Development Fund that explores opportunities in lottery and additional tax on some luxury goods such as tobacco and alcohol.

HE became a minister long before APC was created. So, which came first the sperm or the baby? Mentally lazy PDP.
