The Bauchi State Upper Shariah Court Tuesday discharged and acquitted
two suspects; Usman Sabo and Hafizu Abubakar, who were arraigned for allegedly
having a sexual relationship.
In his judgement, Aliyu Elyaqub, said the suspects were discharged due
to the inability of the prosecution to prove its case.
The judge said the prosecution did not present a witness to testify that he actually saw the accused committing the act and the accused pleaded not guilty to the crime. In their separate reactions, the accused thanked Almighty Allah for the ruling.
The Commissioner of Bauchi State Hisbah, Alhaji Jibrin Danlami Hassan, said the commission is doing its best to sanitize the society and to ensure that everyone gets justice. He added that the commission will meet to study the judgement.
