Should FG Have Postponed The Centenary Celebration In Honour Of The 59 Students Killed In Yobe?

The Nigerian Centenary celebration was held yesterday in Abuja with so much funfair despite the fact that about fifty nine young innocent souls were killed in Yobe State by Boko Haram few hours before the celebration. Some female students of Federal Government College Buni Yadi were also taken away by the insurgents (probably as sex slaves). Before then, over one hundred and sixty people have also lost their lives in Borno and Adamawa State .Some Nigerians felt, this is not the right time for us to celebrate. While others feel ,the celebration should go ahead despite the killings. Do you think that the celebration should have been postponed in order to honour the souls of these unfortunate kids..Should President Goodluck Jonathan have postponed this event?.. YES or NO

  1. YES but they won't do it for some useless selfish thinking. An ordinary person will tell you that it is a clear waste of money. What are we celebrating when we have enough crisis

  2. The attack was aimed at stalling the centenary celebration. I thought postponing it might look like the terrorist are winning the battle . May the soul of the 59 kids RIP and may their innocent souls revenge their death, the best thing the govt could is fish out those killers

    2. Yh, it did touch mine too. Henry you r very selfish and blind at the same time. Ur had is carring nothing but mashed rotten bananas. Who is taking about d northerners taking power? Even if the northern elders were the killers of doz innocent kids the president should have cancelled the event afterall, of what gain is it to the common Nigerian? Like Anon:10:46 rightly said, Obama or any president frm developed country or president of any coutry 4 dt matter would cancelled the prgm no mata hw much was sunk into it. Abeg, sit and think about it. If ur. Child or younger one was among the slaughtered, would you have gone to the event or would you go on with ur birthday bash?

  7. Nothing will please BH and their sponsors better than to cancel the Centenary celebration. Then they would beat their chests and claim success in destablising the country. My heart goes out to the innocent children and their parents but this is not the time to hand over victory to BH and their sponsors.

  8. Yes it should go on because that was bh aim to destabilize the centenary award. Obama will go on if he is faced with this challenges.

  9. YES!!
There wouldn't ve been any need to stop or postpone the centenary celebration because of the terror in the north eastern state. Moreover, the terror was aimed at dividing my country and same time prevent celebrating Nigeria. I'm not saying the terror was justified... But Nigeria must continue to exist despite the boko haram terrors. Afterall, one or some of the Nigeria bigwigs in the affairs of the Nation must have hands or connections in this (bokoharam).
The bokoo harams are nt ghost. The noorthern leaders know these people . But my graviance is hearing GEJ saying "we shall bring these terrorist to justice..." what justice? Go after these beast and get them down for the sake of the Creator of human.

may the souls of the innocent ones affected RIp ..

  14. D question is if it is Jonathan's children and some of his aides and ministers children would he had celebrated it like dis or even at all,d bible says do unto others what u will like to be done to u,it shows how wicked and heartless Jonathan is,some foolish people who are sensless can be on his side,am not surprise and dat is why Nigeria has not develop bcause of sentiments,an aide of Jonathan who went on d net to implicate Sanusi bcause they want to prosecute d honest man,how are we sure if government is not aiding dis terrorist bcause we had it on account dat d military personels on check post left their deliberately few hours b4 d attack and also of all d operations d military never intercept or confront d terrorist,so what are we saying here,am sure of one thing there is always a bad end 4 evil people no matter how powerful they are, they shall one day be brought to judgement, even those dat pretends to be godly and attend church here and there just bcause they wanted to remain in power,God shall disgrace them and wit their conspirators they shall all die a shameful death

  15. We celebrated darkness. Jonathan YOU told us members of boko haram are in your government
Pls let us put end to this nonsense.

  16. For me, the centenary celebration has no meaning for Nigerians in the face of insecurity, kidnapping and economic hardship . It is just a conduits for Jonathan to steal our money , there is nothing to cellebrate about our 100 years of coexistence rather than blood shed and corruption in the high order. The Ijaws advising Jonathan to rule Nigeria in this manner are not helping him . His incompetence has become so salient that he has no other option than to resign. Everything has been politicized under Jonathan . He should understand that with the situation of things now, he can never realize his 2015 political ambition.
