STATE HOUSE PRESS RELEASE
OBASANJO’S
LETTER UNBECOMING, SELF-SERVING AND HIGHLY PROVOCATIVE
We have noted
the publication on several websites today of a letter recently written by Chief
Olusegun Obasanjo to President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.
The Presidency
acknowledges that it has indeed received the said letter from Chief Obasanjo.
We however find
it highly unbecoming, mischievous and provocative that a letter written by a
former Head of State and respected elder statesman to President Jonathan has
been deliberately leaked to the mass media in a deplorable effort to impugn the
integrity of the President and denigrate his commitment to giving Nigeria the
best possible leadership.
While many patriotic, objective and well-meaning
Nigerians have already condemned the leaked letter as self-serving,
hypocritical, malicious, indecent, and very disrespectful of the highest office
in the land, President Jonathan has directed that none of his aides or any
government official should join issues with Chief Obasanjo over it.
The President
himself will, at the appropriate time, offer a full personal response to the
most reckless, baseless, unjustifiable and indecorous charges levied against
him and his administration by the former Head of State.
Reuben Abati
Special Adviser
to the President

This response is matured and decent!
ReplyDeleteAs matured and decent as the response could be, the allegations sounds more true than false. We need more people like OBJ who will look GEJ in the face and tell him some home truth. GEJ has failed us....it is very obvious.
DeleteFoolishness in high places
ReplyDeleteYou don't have even a word to tells Nigerians, MUMU...
ReplyDeleteObj,go & sit down.respect is reciprocal.d best answer 2 a fool,keeping quiet.selfish aggrandiser.
ReplyDeletePeople forget so quickly, when nobody knows GEJ it was OBJ that fought for him. The same OBJ now talks nonsence. Well Odo toba gbagbe Orisun fe gbe ni.
ReplyDeleteOBJ cannot eat his Cake & hv it, He cannot @ dis time ask GEJ to submit 2 him simply cos he brought him to power, OBJ ruled for 8 years, what meaningful impact does he make in respect to Democracy and corrupt free society, yes we kno GEJ has not really make any meaning impact too, but OBJ shouldn't @ dis time be written all forms of letter to GEJ, Baba should face his farming biz, GEJ cannot be consulting U on how the country should be ruled, GOD bless Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteOBJ will sit down just as your destiny and future will be sat upon by jonathan and his corrupt government.OBJ might not be a saint but critically look into his letter and you will have to agree with him in many issues.I don't understand why some Nigerians will always stand up to defend Jonathan even when hopelesness and frustration is written all over their lives. If corruption rises to the highest level OBJ will not complain and if you think OBJ is no longer relevant in Nigerian politics then ask Jonathan how many times he has been to Ota this year alone.Corruption in Nigeria has risen with about 20% in this administration alone and some one who calls himself a sane person is saying Obj should go and sit down.Am not about if jonathan should contest in 2015 or not think if he had delivered he would have saved himself the stress of fighting to continue by 2015 cos Nigerians will back him up.But he failed woefly, politicians have never had it this rosy in nigeria when it comes to corruption. In his administration no public office holder have been brought to book when found wanting even when its been made public. Please if you are a reasonable person read obj's letter and tell me why he should go and sit down
ReplyDeleteMy Dear, maybe they need a Microscope to view how bad the Country has become which even the unborn baby is aware of Α̲̅πϑ who else should we blame of it if not the No 1 citizen of this Country. Please, let's call a Spade a Spade Α̲̅πϑ stop supporting evil.
DeleteWell,to me Obj is saying d truth becos our presido is destroying d foundation laid down by Obj.For example the president is not doing enough to tackle d issue of corruption, instead he his granting state pardon to the criminals and giving d country bad names.God bless Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteBaba Iyabo go n boil olele leave GEJ alone he won't join ogboni society
ReplyDeleteHow many time did he have to join Ogboni? He is the crowned prince of Ogboni. If you don't know. That's the reason for his thousands of blood donations. He has donated thousands of Nigerian lives to his cults. So don't think anyone is just introducing him.
DeleteWell said my Dear. Those pple supporting GEJ is his Gang of boys but is better to knw Α̲̅πϑ say de truth b/c dats what ll set us FREE.
DeleteAm surprised by some of our comments against OBJ. Is d content of dat letter nt exactly wats happenin In our country? Oh we need a saint or rev. Father to say it b4 we blv? I am nt sayin Obj did too well during his time bt dat does nt mean He should nt say the truth as he has seen it, pls let's contribute to Nigeria by making reasonable comments devoid of sentiments,,,,,,,,,, I am 4 Nja, U nko?????????? Topson
ReplyDeleteWe haf lot of fools n blind people in Nigeria who are too sentimental,it is very obvious dat Jonathan is sentimental, too corrup n desperate despise dat he promised not to seek 4 another term,I haf warn Jonathan just as d biblical Saul he is destined 4 destruction wit his household
ReplyDeleteAnd they say my president is not smart, what a response !!
ReplyDeleteI have a lot of things to say 2 u buzen! But I will rather shop up, cuz if you consider GEJ wise, then you are too bright yourself
DeleteWell Iam not surprised with OBJ. He always wants to be seen as Nigeria's Mandela but lacks the qualities. If we recall he raised a similar outburst against IBB not long ago that degenerated to name callings etc. He is yet to answer to the scandal raised against him by his own son of sexual mess with his wife. Can he please spare us his usual self righteousness?
ReplyDeleteMandela just died. Learn something OBJ
ReplyDeleteOBJ you have failed us with this bad attitude. To poor. Your children are growing and coming up. Continue but God forgive u.
ReplyDeleteObj can never be Mandela,he's just waiting for who will kill him, after all he has comited all soughts of atrocities and is not happy, busy looking for trouble here and there. JEG is not a member of senate,he's not a member of Reps,he's not chief judge of the federation and definitely not icpc and efcc chiarman,if he fails, then we all failed because we are all represented in different areas of his government, what have we done to help the situation? Is it by spoiling his name and calling the president names that will help the situation? tomorrow we say we love nigeria? Even Obama is talked about,so nobody cares about what you have to say to JEG,he is and will remain the best president nigeria has.
ReplyDeleteSome Nigerians are stupid in thoughts. If you don't understand that letter, go and read it again, again and again. Sentiment apart as ijaw man, OBJ is right. Do we want TBJ to say it before we believe? Obj may not have done too well does not mean he cannot say something when is getting worse. To me, OBJ is like a prophet, he told Imo people that they have a small Criminal(Ohakim) and they are not satisfied, now they said they need a big criminal(Rochas). Now go and see what is happening in Imo State. We are waiting to hear from GEJ and not Reuben Abati. We are saying, good response, but that was a response from someone who has vowed to protect the integrity of GEJ. The same man who was against the corruption in the previous government and was always shouting in the media is now supporting corruption because he is the SA to GEJ on media and publicity. Tufiakwaa!!! OBJ is right about GEJ. TBJ has a revelation about this country, go and find out. Let us think about the content of this Letter and not the writer.
ReplyDeletePoint of correction. OBJ has no right to choose for the people of Imo state who is to govern them, even when he could not win the election in his own ward in his home state.
DeleteI don't now why some people are too sentiment. Work with the truth even it comes from the devil. The truth should not be ignored because of it source. If the content of the letter is not real, then say it with proves, simple. But condemning a truth because of the source is unjust. We are waiting to hear from Jonathan.
ReplyDeleteJonathen should come out and defend himself and not the beast called Abati! Come out and talk reasonably 4 once GEJ!!! Cos all the allegation levied against are the truth !daft! Mumu!! Olodo!!
ReplyDeleteU people keep surprising me! Do u think if you were given d opportunity u wil do beta dan GEJ? Stop dis mentality..
ReplyDeleteHe is really doing his best, y can't u see d positive side?.... U r talking about corruption, do u know dat corruption did nt start today even during d time of jesus christ deir was corruption, judas was corrupt, d christains were killed becoz of dere faith etc, so wat r trying 2 say about corruption.
Corruption did nt start today, GEJ is far beta dan OBJ hu only knows hw 2 emblezz moni, y is he complaining nw won't he mind his agricultural bizness? Yes he was d brain behind GEJ in power bt he can't eat his cake n have it back so he should just go n sit down! Just becoz GEJ refuse 2 b remote by him dat y he is saying al dis crap, doing his time wat did he do dat was meaningful tel me since u guyz wat 2 compare? N 2 al dose hu know hw 2 write on social media if u c GEJ today can u tel him dis nonsense.. If you don't have anytin 2 say kindly put ur mouth in ur pocket n stop making unwanted noise.... Don't judge sumone coz if u were give d same tin 2 do u won't b beta dan dat person!
