The Anambra State Gubernatorial supplementary election may
take place not later than November 30, 2013.
Though the EMB commenced an operational audit of the
governorship election, with blame being heaped on the 21 electoral officers of
the commission in Anambra State, INEC studiously defended its Continuous
Voters' Register (CVR), blaming the missing names of voters on the refusal by
voters in the state to cross check their names when the register was displayed.
According to a source who spoke on the issue, the
commission was satisfied with the explanation of its officials who reviewed the
voters’ register, stating that no complaint was received by the commission,
during and after the display of the voters’ register for two weeks in the 4,608
polling units in Anambra State.
On the supplementary election, it was resolved that the
election should take place later than November 30.
It was gathered that the commission would have preferred
November 23, but the commission will be preoccupied in Enugu State this weekend
with a bye-election.
INEC is therefore expected to officially announce the
November 30 today.
