Woman Arrange Her Own Kidnap To Seek Ransom From Husband

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested a woman who collaborated with a commercial motorcyclist to kidnap herself and demand a ransom of N200,000 from her husband.
This was contained in a statement by the public relations officer of the state police command, Ebere Amaraizu.
He disclosed that the woman, after going into hiding, called her husband identified as Marcus Chukwu from Agbogugu in Awgu local government area of Enugu state and claimed that she had been abducted by unknown gunmen and that her abductors had demanded that N200,000 be paid to them as ransom.
He said Chukwu swiftly reported to the police that his wife identified as Nancy Chukwu had been kidnapped, after which operatives of the anti-kidnapping unit of the command swung into action.
Amaraizu stated that during investigations, the commercial motorcyclist identified as one Chikwe Tochukwu from Amakwe Okeremiri in Aboh Mbaise, Imo State, who resides at Agbogugu, was the brain behind the kidnap.
“According to the seeming penitent culprit, he said that he is an okada rider who usually conveys Nancy home from the market but was lured into talking to the husband of Nancy while they were together with a tone that he is a kidnapper already holding Nancy under captivity and that the sum of N200,000 be paid as a ransom to the account number provided which he also claimed belonged to his friend Chikwado.
“Chikwe Tochukwu is helping the operatives in their investigations just as he is begging for forgiveness.
“On her part, Nancy corroborated the fact Chikwe Tochukwu is a commercial motorcyclist at Agbogugu who usually conveys her home and that she asked him to call the husband while they were together and demand the said amount of money from the husband under the guise that she had been kidnapped by Chikwe Tochukwu.

“According to her, she didn’t know what came over her prompting such behaviour while she also pleaded for forgiveness. A full scale investigation into the alleged incident has intensified,” Amaraizu said.
