Poser:Do You Support Death Penalty For Kidnappers

A gang of Kidnappers In Warri Delta State on Tuesday
The act of Kidnapping started in the Niger Delta /South South region in early 2000 when aggrieved young men who addressed themselves as Niger Delta militants started kidnapping oil workers to drive home their agitation over the government and oil companies successive neglect of the oil rich region.Ransom were paid and the captives were released most of the time unharmed.Just like every thing in Nigeria, with time the act of kidnapping spread to the other part of the country especially the South East.It became a lucrative business. With the total collapse of the Advanced Free Fraud (aka 419) era, most young men found the new venture very attractive.Men ,Women,Young and the elderly were kidnapped at random, while a ransom were extorted before their release .Some have been unfortunate to die in the process even when ransom were paid. The former deputy governor of Anambra State was one of the unlucky. Some States have gone ahead to sign into law ,laws making it punishable by death ,anyone one caught in the act.Within the past few weeks there have also been some high profile kidnappings..Mother of Minister of Finance,Ngozi Okojo Iweala was once a victim, Mike Ozekhome a human right lawyer was kidnapped in Edo State while in Port Harcourt,an Anglican Bishop was also kidnapped.Yesterday, the daughter of late former Head of State Shehu ,Musa Yar'Adua was lucky to have escaped being kidnapped in Abuja.Since kidnapping just like armed robbery involved the use of arms, would you support the death penalty for anyone caught in the act?.
