HomePolitics Rochas Confiscates Road Contractor's Equipment byCKN NEWS -May 16, 2013 0 · · · EDUCATION The Imo State government has resumed work on the Sam Mbakwe road project that was abandoned by J-PROS, a Lebanese construction company, following its problems with the former deputy governor, Sir. Jude Agbaso. The dual carriage road project would be under the close supervision of the state’s Ministry of Works. Governor Rochas Okorocha, who spoke Wednesday when he inspected the road project, also recalled the furore raised by the stoppage and abandonment of the project after the commitment of about N1.2 billion by the state government. He regretted the incident which he said consumed the former deputy governor, Sir Jude Agbaso. It would be recalled that the state legislature found the former deputy governor guilty of collecting N458 million gratification from Mr. Joseph Dina, the managing director of the company in charge of the project. Mr. Dina had accused the former deputy governor of demanding and collecting the said amount with the promise of giving him more jobs, a development he claimed crippled the company financially and made continuation of the project impossible. Okorocha reiterated the commitment of his administration to actualize the project irrespective of the unfortunate circumstance that led to the stoppage of work. He also disclosed decision of the state executive council to confiscate equipment abandoned at the site by J-PROS, while directing the state Attorney-General to take every necessary legal action to ensure that government recovers the unmerited sum paid to the company. · · Tags Politics Facebook Twitter
