APGA Gets New Chairman (Maxi Okwu)

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) on Monday elected Chief Maxi Okwu as its new National Chairman.
It also elected 28 new national officers to conduct the affairs of the party at its National Convention, which held on Monday morning at the Women Development Centre, Awka.
Some of other national officers elected include Alhaji Sigir Maidoya, Secretary, Alhaji Sadeeq Massala, National Vice-Chairman ( North), Chief Chris Uche, National Vice-Chairman (South), Dr. Elijah Onwuka , National Vice- Chairman (South-East), Alhaji Tijani idris, National Vice-Chairman (North –West), among others.
Okwu said the successful congress and convention marked a new dawn in the history of the party.
He thanked the delegates for their peaceful conduct and deep sense of commitment throughout the exercise and promised to work with others to recreate the vision of the founding fathers of APGA.
“I would work harmoniously with everyone to re-invent the vision of the party in line with the vision of the founding fathers. APGA shall be stronger, progressive and formidable,’’ Okwu said.
In his remarks, Gov. Peter Obi of Anambra said it was the first time any political party conducted a successful convention without rancour or acrimony.
He urged the executive to carry everyone along, resolve all differences and work towards a stronger party.
Obi expressed the hope that the party would consolidate on its current strength and emerge victorious in the coming elections.
The convention had earlier ratified the resolutions of the March 19, National Executive council meeting of the party and approved a part of the constitution of the party.
Some officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission were present to observe the convention.

  3. The world should ask Peter Obi what he stand to gain by destrying APGA that gave him the platform to be Governor? I was at the convention. Mallan selling suya were paid to act as delegates. Zubairu who sells suya at Aroma Junction voted as a delegate from a northern state. What will be Peter Obi's gain in this power tussle? Why kill APGA Peter Obi?
