NCC Gives Airtel,Glo Final Warning On Banned Promos

The Nigerian communications commission NCC has once again given a final warning to two Nigeria GSM operators Globacom and Airtel to stop all promotion activities in the media or face heavy sanctions.
In a letter dated 20th November made available to CKN Nigeria and signed by the commission’s Executive Commissioner (Stake holder Management ) Mr Okechuku Itanyi ,the commission reminded the operators of its earlier directive of 9th November 2012 on the need to suspend all promotions materials in the media due to the ever growing congestions being experienced by its subscribers.
NCC said inspite of the ban on all promotions and lotteries, some Telecom Operators have refused to comply with the directive to withdraw all such promotions from the media and to communicate the ban to subscribers.
The continued broadcast of the promotions according to NCC is a total disregard of Section 53 of Nigerian Communications Act, 2003.

Also included in the warning is another provider,Emerging Markets Ltd
