An unprecedented anxiety never seen in the seat of
power for years seems to be mounting at the Presidential villa last night over
the failing health of Nigeria’s first
lady,Dame Patience Goodluck Jonathan.
It would be recalled that the news of Madam Goodluck’s
ill health filtered in about two weeks ago.
Although the Presidency quickly denied the story saying
the first lady travelled out to take a well-deserved rest after the meeting of
Africa’s first Ladies which she hosted in Abuja. As pressure started mounting
and curiosity seems to have taken the better part of Nigerians ,all sorts of uncoordinated
press releases surfaced from different sources at the Presidency, giving rise
to anxiety that all may not be well with the amiable first lady after all.
CKN Nigeria check at the villa through our ever
reliable sources shows that, madam’s sickness ma have overwhelmed the egg heads
at the villa.
It was speculated last night that President Goodluck
Jonathan had to hurriedly cut short his visit to Malawi and Botswana to return
to Nigeria in order to take full charge of the health situation of his wife who
is presently in a German hospital.
Though the president was quoted as telling some close
allies on return yesterday that his wife is recuperating fast, most people
seems not convinced since no member of her inner kitchen cabinet have seen the
first lady since she was flown out of the country.
The anxiety is reaching a crescendo taking consideration
the occurrence within the villa in the last two regimes before the present
government.
It would be recalled that the wife of former President,
Stella Obasanjo died as the first lady when she went for an operation abroad.
The immediate past President and boss to current Head
of State,Alhaji Umaru Yar’Adua also passed on ,few months into his first term
in office.
Our source at the villa said all sorts of prayer
warriors have been invited to the villa to keep night vigils and to pray for
Madam Goodluck Jonathan.
While Nigeria’s continue to seek the true position of
things from those that should know at Aso Rock,it is expected that next few
days will clearly show if the rumours making the rounds is just a mere
