Federal Executive Council Meeting Continues On Thursday

The extraordinary meeting of the Federal Executive Council (FEC), presided over by President Muhammadu Buhari, will continue on Thursday. This was announced on Wednesday by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Malam Garba Shehu.

He said the extension is to allow the council more time to deliberate and take decisions on pressing matters. According to him, the Federal Government plans to make Nigerians happy by providing tangible and meaningful projects to uplift their quality of life.

President Buhari had, before the commencement of the meeting, sworn-in the seven permanent secretaries left from the 22 appointed earlier in the year. The other 15 had taken their oaths in August. Those sworn in are Mustapha Suleiman (Kano); Adekunle Adeyemi (Oyo); Mrs Comfort Ekaro (Rivers); Adebayo Akpata (Ekiti).

Others are Dr Abdulkadir Muazu (Kaduna); Marcelinus Osuji (Imo) and Bitrus Nabasu (Plateau). The President did not deliver any inauguration address after the signing of the inauguration register, as the FEC meeting progressed afterwards.

At the end of Wednesday’s session, the FEC had approved the request by nine universities to get independent power plants valued at N38.91billion. It also approved the Ondo-Ogun road, Enugu-Onitsha road, and Abuja-Kano road for N155.7billion.
