An 18-year-old lady identified as Faith Pius has died from wounds sustained after she was stabbed by her 26-year-old lover in a hotel in Yenegoa, Bayelsa State capital.

The deceased, who was stabbed on Friday night at the hotel located in Biogbolo area of the state capital, was rushed to a hospital but died from complications two days later.

Her scream attracted the attention of other guests in the hotel who rushed to her room but by the time they got to her rescue, the attacker had already fled the scene.

Confirming the incident to newsmen, the State Police Commissioner, Amba Asuquo said, “Initially, it was treated purely as a case of assault occasioned by harm but now that the girl has died, we are now treating a case of murder against one suspect.”

The state police boss disclosed that the suspect is yet to be apprehended but efforts are being made to get him arrested.

“We are in the process of ensuring that the suspect is arrested because after committing the crime he ran away. I know some people are associating it to ritual killing but we cannot conclude,” he said.

Her death has taken a new dimension as the indigenes are up in arms with their Igbo neighbors whom they accused to be harbouring the boy known as Tochi. They have ordered all shops owned by Igbos in the town to remain closed until the alleged killer is apprehended
