Governor Ibikunle Amosun physically intervenes to save Ms Idiat Babalola, a former Special Adviser to Osun State Governor, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, during Senator Adeleke's burial. She was delegated by Governor Aregbesola to represent him as he was away to China.

Angry supporters of late Senator Isiaka Adeleke on Monday, April 24, collapsed canopy on Ogun state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, Ondo state governor, Rotimi Akeredolu and Olagunsoye Oyinlola, to chase out Idiat Babalola, who is a commissioner nominee of Governor Rauf Aregbesola. 

Idiat Babalola who was seated among the dignitaries including the younger brother of the deceased, Deji Adeleke, was chased out by the youths who alleged that the former governor was poisoned by some APC leaders.

Citing reasons for their actions, the irate youths said Babalola was being touted to become the running mate of the anointed candidate of the APC.

Trouble struck when Babalola was sighted by the mourners who demanded that she should be sent out.

Despite pleas from family members of the deceased , the youths insisted and started shouting and raining curses on her, Punch reports.

At this point, the youths went berserk as they started shaking the canopy where Governors Ibikunle Amosun, Rotimi Akeredolu, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Deji Adeleke were seated to chase out Babalola who they described as a betrayer.

However, Governor Amosun came to Babalola’s rescue as he escorted her outside of the house through the help of his security aides.

Since the passing of Senator Adeleke , youths in his hometown of Ede have been rioting, alleging that the Senator was poisoned to prevent him from running for next OSUN governor in 2018.
The riots forced the state government to order an autopsy at LAUTECH Teaching Hospital.
