Deputy Senate President, Senator Ike Ekweremadu, yesterday said he knew nothing about the alleged forging of the Senate rules book, saying his emergence as the Deputy Senate President was his only offence

The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Ekweremadu and two others are standing trial at the FCT High Court over forgery of the senate rules.

He said his only offence was his emergence against the wishes of the “powers that be”.

Speaking when members of Enugu State Economic Advisory Committee paid him a solidarity visit at his residence in Enugu, he said his hands were clean.

Ekweremadu, in a statement by his media aide, Uche Anichukwu , reiterated his commitment to the principles of the separation of power, independence of the legislature, and growth of the nation’s democracy.
