She expressed her sadness over the incident.

Meanwhile, the Police in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have arrested six persons over the murder of a female evangelist at the Gbazango-West area of Kubwa, Abuja.

Deaconess Eunice Mojisola Elisha was found dead with knife wounds around 7am on Saturday at the Bazango pipeline area of Kubwa.

The mother of seven who was a deaconess at the Divine Touch Parish of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, Old NEPA Road, Phase 4, Kubwa, was said to be on an early morning street evangelism with a megaphone when she was attacked at an isolated area close to a refuse dump.

The widower, Pastor Olawale Elisha, said the woman left home at about 5a.m on Saturday to preach with a megaphone.

Mr. Olawale said he was still in bed when two of his children who went to play football later that morning returned to tell him that a female preacher had been killed in the Bazango area.

He said he became restless and went to the scene with his children but did not see anybody but blood on the ground.

“A policeman later told us that the corpse was taken to the Phase 4 Police Station. When we got there, I saw the body of my wife at the back of the police van,” he said.

He described his late wife as a peace loving woman, adding that she sometimes reported to him that some people around the area commented about her preaching during one of her morning evangelism.

“I see her as a martyr and she died for Christ,” he said, adding that the police told him that some suspects were already in their custody.

In a statement yesterday, FCT police command spokesman, ASP Anjuguri Manzah, said the Commissioner of Police, Alkali Usman, had ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) to lead an investigation into the murder.

Manzah pointed out that six suspects arrested in connection with the incident were in police custody undergoing interrogation, adding that the outcome of the investigation would be made public.

He conveyed the commissioner’s condolences to her family and assured them and other residents of the area, of the commitment and determination of the command to get the killers and bring them to justice.

Manzah also urged residents of Kubwa to remain calm and cooperate with the police on the investigation.

He said: “The following numbers; 08032003913, 08061581938, 07057337653 and 08028940883 could be used to give information to the police in respect of this matter or to report any complaint or distress.

Contrary to reports from some sections of the media that the deceased’s head and leg were chopped-off, the command wants to state that apart from marks of injury inflicted on some parts of her body, all parts of the deceased body are intact. The police have taken custody of her remains for preservation and examination,” he said.
