The
wife of Ogun State Governor, Olufunso Amosun, has said the wife of the
President, Hajia Aisha Buhari, is interested in the welfare of Korede, the
nine-year-old boy, chained by his father for over a month.
She
said this on Tuesday when she paid a visit to the boy at the Children’s Ward of
the Federal Medical Centre, Idi Aba, Abeokuta.
Amosun
she was happy to see Korede recovering fast, adding that the President’s wife
was interested in the welfare and speedy rehabilitation of the boy.
She
said, “It is reassuring that the boy is doing well despite all what he was
subjected to. We were worried that we would see a dejected and withdrawn child,
but we are seeing Korede that is active with his mind alert.
“The
mother of the nation has followed the case when it first broke and she is still
following it.
She (Aisha Buhari) is very passionate about it, she wants to know
the boy’s condition and is compassionate about the case.”
Korede,
on his own part, begged Amosun not to allow anybody to return him to his
father’s house.
Korede,
who was chained by his father, Francis, for over a month over allegation of
stealing, was rescued last Friday by operatives of the Nigeria Security and
Civil Defence Corps and Ogun State Police Command.
Francis
is the pastor of the Key of Joy parish of the Celestial Church of Christ,
Ajibawo, in the Ado Odo/Ota Local Government Area of the state.
