Oguntoyinbo of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos today granted bail to
human right lawyer,Barr Ebun Adegboruwa .
The lawyer was granted bail in the
sum of N10m and two sureties in like sum .The sureties must have proterties in
lagos that will ve verified by the court.
Their bank account will also be
verified and certified by the court according to the learned judge.
Before the ruling ,his bail
application was argued by his lead counsel,Mr Emeka Etiaba SAN who led other
lawyers.
He opened that the lawyer is legal
practitioner of repute,who has a flourishing chamber in the Lekki area of
Lagos.
In his several years of practice,he
has not been convicted of any crime,neither has he been charged for any crime.He
asked the court to grant the accuse bail on self recognition.
To further add weight to the
submission of his counsel, Barr Ebun Adegboruwa is a Pastor at RCCG, he will not jump bail if granted.
Earlier ,the EFCC charged the
lawyer on a one count charge of leasing out a property that is under the
custody of the agency.The lawyer representing the EFCC did not object to the
bail application.
The judge adjourned the case till
2.00pm in order to rule on the bail application.
While delivering her judgement,the
judge ruled that the lawyer has a constitutional right to be granted bail..
She said the offence was a bailable one but that she was “constrained” to grant him bail on self recognition .She therefore granted him bail on the sum of N10m and asked he be remanded in EFCC custody until he meets his bail condition as requested for by his counsel.

In an exclusive chat with the
Editor in Chief of CKN News ,Mr Chris Kehinde Nwandu at the premises of the
court today,Mr Ebun Adegboruwa said the issue for which he was being charged
for has been disposed off in another court.
He authoritatively informed CKN
News that his prosecution has nothing to do with the issue being raised by the
EFCC but that he was being pressured to stop representing wanted Niger Delta
militant leader,Government Tompolo who is being sort after by the agency.
According to him,CKN, the charges
are just smokescreen to deceive Nigerians..The main issue is that they want me
to stop representing Tompolo.
But in my clear conscience as a
lawyer,I have the right to represent anyone. That is my calling,that is why we
are lawyers, that is why I went to the Law school,no one can stop me from doing
that.
Barr Ebun did not show any sign of maltreatment
.He who wore a Blue Suit without a tie to the court and is expected to breathe
the air of freedom after he must have met his bail conditions.
On hand to witness the proceedings
were his colleagues in the bar,friends ,relations and church members from RCCG.
