NAVY RAISES ALARM OVER FAKE FACEBOOK ACCOUNT AS RECRUITMENT EXCERCISE BEGINS

The Nigerian Navy has raised an alarm over activities of fraudsters who it said are bent on taking advantage of the recent advertisement by the Navy for recruitment, by demanding money from job seekers.

The Director of Information of the Nigerian Navy, Commodore Chris Ezekobe, who stated this.said some of the fraudsters had floated a fake Facebook account of the Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas, in order to extort money from members of the public.

He advised those who intend to join the Navy to visit the Nigerian Navy Website on www.nigeriannavy.org <http://www.nigeriannavy.org/> where, he said, all the information on how to obtain and submit the form are stated.

“Our attention has been drawn to the activities of some fraudsters who are presently demanding for between N7,000 and N8,000 as fees from those who intend to join the Navy. But the form is online and free.

The Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok Ibas, does not have a Facebook account where he interfaces with those seeking to obtain the form.

Members of the public should be aware that those behind this are fraudsters and do not represent the Navy,” Ezekobe said. He advised the fraudsters to desist from the activities, warning that any of them arrested would face the full wrath of the law.
