Two Suspected Gays Caught Having Sex In A Church In Osogbo

Two suspected gays have been arraigned before a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Osogbo, Osun State, for allegedly having sexual intercourse around 2.00 a.m. inside the premises of a church, identified as Peace of Jesus Apostolic Church, located at Asubiaro area in Osogbo.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Solomon Oladele, informed the court that the suspects, a 19-year-old Samuel Friday and Oni Oluwatobi, aged 18, allegedly perpetrated the act of homosexuality sometime in May.
The charge sheet read in part: “That you, Samuel Friday and Oni Oluwatobi, sometimes in May, 2013 at about 2.00 a.m. at Peace of Jesus Apostolic Church, Asubiaro, Osogbo, did conspire together to commit felony to wit: indecent sexual practice between yourselves.”
Oladele further told the court that the suspected gays conducted themselves in a manner that was capable of causing breach of public peace having desecrated the place of worship.
It was also gathered that Friday had sometime in May, 2013 at Sadiat area, Ilesa Road in Osogbo, sexually assaulted a boy (name withheld) by robbing and sucking his penis without the latter’s approval.
The prosecutor contended that the accused persons have committed offences contrary to and punishable under Section 516, 249 (D), and Section 217 of the Criminal Code Cap 34, Vol. II, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria, 2003.
When the charges  were preferred against them, the duo pleaded not guilty and their counsel, Mrs. Nnenna Ngwu, prayed the court to grant bail to her clients, arguing that they are presumed innocent until the contrary is proved reasonably by the prosecution.
The presiding magistrate, Olusola Aluko, granted the accused persons bail in the sum of N100, 000 each with two sureties in like amount, saying that the sureties must be resident within the court’s jurisdiction and that the addresses of the sureties must be verified by the court orderly.

The matter was adjourned till November 14.
